"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."
"In place of a dark lord you would have a queen. Not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the
sea! Stronger than the foundations of the earth! All shall love me and despair. I have passed the test. I shall diminish and
go into the West. I will remain Galadriel." - Galadriel
"It began with the forging of the great rings. Three were given to the Elves. Immortal, wisest, and fairest of all beings.
Seven to the dwarf lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. And nine. Nine rings were gifted to the race of
men, who above all else desire power." - Galadriel
Eowyn: Women of this country learned long ago that those without swords can still die upon them. I fear neither death
Aragorn: What do you fear my lady?
Eowyn: A cage. To stay behind bars until use and old age accept them. And all chance of valor has gone beyond recall
"Many that live deserve death. And some who die deserve life. Can you give it to them?" - Gandalf
Frodo: I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
Gandalf: So do all who come to see
such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.
"I would rather share one lifetime with you, then face all the ages of this world alone." - Arwen
Sam: They're leaving Middle Earth.
Frodo: Never to return.
Sam: I don't know why, it makes me sad.
Aragorn: I swore to protect you!
Frodo: Can you protect me from yourself?
Arwen: I choose a mortal life.
Aragorn: You can not give me this.
Arwen: It is mine to give to whom I will...like my heart.
Gimli: What's happening down there?
Legolas: Shall I describe it to you...or would you like me to find you a box?
Gimli: Legolas! Two already!
Legolas: I'm on seventeen!
Gimli: What? I wont have no pointy ear outscoring me!
"Now, listen carefully. Lord Denethor is Boromir's father. To give him news of his beloved son's death would be most
unwise. And do not mention Frodo, or the Ring. And say nothing of Aragorn either. In fact, it's better if you don't speak
at all, Peregrin Took." - Gandalf
"I Aear cān ven na mar." - Elrond [The Sea calls us home]
Samwise: Do you remember the Shire, Mr. Frodo? It'll be spring soon. And the orchards will be in blossom. And the birds
will be nesting in the hazel thicket. And they'll be sowing the summer barley in the lower fields... and eating the first
of the strawberries with cream. Do you remember the taste of strawberries?
Frodo: No, Sam. I can't recall the taste of
food... nor the sound of water... nor the touch of grass. I'm... naked in the dark. There's... There's nothing. No veil between
me and the wheel of fire. I can see him... with my waking eyes.
Samwise: Then let us be rid of it... once and for all. Come on, Mr. Frodo. I can't carry it for you... but I can carry
Pippin: What about breakfast?
Aragorn: You've already had it.
Pippin: We've had one, yes. What about second breakfast?
Merry: I don't think he knows about second breakfast Pip.
Pippin: What about elevensies? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? He knows about them, doesn't he?
Merry: I wouldn't count on it.
"I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell. An alliance once exsisted between elves and men. Long ago we fought and
died together. We've come to honor that alligance." - Haldir
"I am no man." - Eowyn
Gimli: Never thought I'd die fighting side by side with an Elf.
Legolas: What about side by side with a friend?
Gimli: Aye. I could do that.
Gimli: Certainty of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?
Frodo: I can see the Shire. The Brandywine River. Bag End. The Lights in the Party Tree.
Samwise: Rosie Cotton dancing. She had ribbons in her hair. If ever I were to marry someone, it would have been her.
It would have been her.
Frodo: I'm glad to be with you, Samwise Gamgee, here at the end of all things.
"Wake up. Don't leave me here alone. Don't go where I can't follow." - Samwise
"I don't want to be in a battle. But waiting on the edge of one I can't escape is even worse." - Pippin
Pippin: I feel like I'm back at the Green Dragon after a hard day's work.
Merry: Only, you've never done a hard day's work.
Elrond: I looked into your future, and I saw death.
Arwen: But there was also life. You saw there was a child, you saw my son.
Elrond: That future is almost gone.
Arwen: But it is not lost.
"Of all the inquisitive Hobbits, Peregrin Took, you are the worst." - Gandalf
King of the Dead: We do not suffer the living to pass.
Aragorn: You will suffer me.
"How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on... when in your heart... you begin to understand...
there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep... that have taken hold."
"My dear Sam: You cannot always be torn in two. You will have to be one and whole for many years. You have so much to
enjoy and to be and to do. Your part in the story will go on." - Frodo
Eomer: I would cut off your head, dwarf, if it stood but a little higher from the ground.
Legolas: You would die before
your stroke fell.
"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And
sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was
when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day
will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant
something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those
stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something."
Sam: I wonder if people will ever say, 'let's hear about Frodo and the Ring.' And they'll say 'yes, that's one of my
favorite stories. Frodo was really courageous, wasn't he, Dad?' 'Yes, my boy, the most famousest of hobbits. And that's saying
Frodo: You've left out one of the chief characters - Samwise the Brave. I want to hear more about Sam. Frodo wouldn't
have gotten far without Sam.
Sam: Now Mr. Frodo, you shouldn't make fun; I was being serious.
Frodo: So was I.

and moon is dead" - Gollum
"Three hundred lives of men I have walked this earth and now I have no time." - Gandalf
"Side? I am on nobody's side, because nobody is on my side, little orc." - Treebeard
"I'm a bit taller than you were then, but I'm not likely to grow anymore...except sideways." - Pippin
"It is but a shadow of a thought, your love. I can not give you what you seek." - Aragorn
